New parents are happy to buy toys for their children, and it is easy for them to find appropriate ones. However, they often struggle from not knowing how to play with their children, especially with much younger children. When playing the sensory games with their children, new parents should always keep in mind to GUIDE children how they can play with it rather than TEACH them how to play with it. Parent-child games not only foster good relationships between parents and children, but also grow the children's sense of safety and their ability to explore the environment.

In this workshop, ELG's Occupational Therapist and Sensory Integration Specialist, Jing Chiu, will focus on how to play sensory games with young children to promote brain development and foster better parent-child relationships.

Key Takeaways:

  • Get a better understanding of the benefits of sensory play
  • Know age appropriate sensory games for different ages
  • Learn the importance of parent-child interactions on a child's brain functional development
  • Gain fun sensory play ideas for the home setting, experience hands-on activities and improve parenting skills
